CRYPTO INFECTIONS.... some call them Cyberworms ... or Ransomware...
17 May 2017
Installing CryptoPrevent ... free version ... to be used in conjunction with other security software for Windows.
I think you will need less than 250mb of internet credit if you are watching your data.

I bought my Computer from Roland of RS Computer Services in 2012, which I am using now and I follow his advice... Smile
I also buy 'Bullguard Internet Security' from him each year which has done its job of protecting my computer over the last 5 years and will continue using it.
I have also bought external harddrives from Roland and have backed up all my files... many people don't backup there precious photos then freak when they loose them.... Have you?
RS Computer Services at this link
https://www.facebook.com/pg/rscsonline/posts/
... I have copied his article lower down the page from his face-book as he is re-building his website...
and because of this and I am installing CryptoPrevent... I decided to write these instructions...
Please go to his face-book and click the like button if you download the software.

Legal bit.
I or anyone else can not be held responsable for any losses etc...
I have written this to help you all around the world
and have tried my best to give you acurate instructions to help combat the nasty cyber worms and will update these instructions as I learn more.
If you are in anyway unsure then contact...

RS Computer Services at this link

You may ask...
Why use this software?
It's like having a garden fence which is good but a little bit of barbed wire can help make it more secure.

Note.
The company the download is from is called "Foolish IT"..... yes it is rememberable!

So...........
This is the ... I'm not confident with downloading CryptoPrevent guide by Squeaky Design ...
This is much easier than working out how to use a new electrical gaget even a simple toy!
If you need instructions writing or scrutinising or technical translation please contact me.

Instructions...
Make a restore point on your computer, I do this everytime I download something new...
Now...
read all these instructions first...
As you will see...
each task has its own line...
It might look a lot and take a little while but you will have a sense of achievement...
So here goes...

Click on this link
https://www.foolishit.com/cryptoprevent-malware-prevention/
Scroll half way down the page...
on the left you will see a grey button DOWNLOAD
click on that...
this is the free version which I am using
 File size is 10mb
wait for it to download........................................
then go to where it has been downloaded ... most likely the Downloads button on your start menu...
you will see a folder called CryptoPreventSetupV8-zip
click on that...
you should now see the same words but it should end with the letters ' exe '
click on that...
several boxes in turn will appear on the screen asking your permission
read them...
one will say or there is a tick box 'Put Icon on Desktop' click 'Yes'...
click yes to all the others...
and you have now installed the folder to put the software in...

at the top right of your screen/browser
click on the ' _ '
minimise button or the restore down button (box to the right) and adjust the size so you can see your desktop so you can keep reading this.
but stay connected to the internet...
you should now see the blue CRYPTOPREVENT icon on the Desktop...
cr_icon.jpg
click on that...
When this programme is 'having a think' a little box will appear saying something like 'Verifying Status' and a green bar (depending on your computer settings) will go from left to right. (The words will be different at top of box to this picture)
cr_green.jpg

Then...
A large box will appear.... pictured below...
As you will see I have set it to 'Maximum' .... (Note Roland suggests in his article a moderate setting)
as it says in the highlighted area "May prevent legitimate software......."
see SETTINGS lower down page...

Now click the button APPLY PROTECTION PLAN....
Remember each time you change settings you will need to press this button while on-line.
The little green line box will appear as it downloads all the files it needs...
this is the main download and will may take a few mins...
While you are waiting... scroll below this picture... only a little more to do...

cryptoprevent_settings.jpg

YOU HAVE NEARLY FINISHED...

cr_protections.jpgThe box with the green line will disappear...
and then another box will appear saying about 'White list'...
click NO ...
(at a later date you may wish to change this)
the box to the left will appear...

READ to the bottom of the page BEFORE CLICKING RESTART COMPUTER
or you can restart the computer and return here.

That's it... you have now installed CryptoPrevent...
to be used in conjunction with other security software like Bullguard...

INSTRUCTIONS and INFORMATION to UPDATE your CRYPTOPREVENT software
and settings...

UPDATES...

Each time you go on line... (this is the safest method)
cr_icon.jpg
click on the blue icon CRYPTOPREVENT on your desktop... or in your start menu...

and the box pictured below will appear...
You will notice I have clicked on the UPDATES TAB
and while you are connected to the internet
all you will have to do is click on CHECK FOR UPDATES

cryptoprevent_update_page.jpg
when the green line gets to the right...
update_green_bar.jpg
this box will appear...
application_was_updated.jpg

Click on OK and you have updated CyptoProtection. Cool

SETTINGS...
In the instructions above I have suggested MAXIMUM protection.
So far e-mail, twitter and searching the web and writing this all work ok.

If you find something won't run and you are 'on-line' then move to 'Default' or at the worst 'Minimal'
In my view only use the 'None' setting if off-line, for installing other software etc...
but remember to switch on again after.

There are other settings and for now I have left them as I found them.
I have found Desktop Gadgets like Calender are not present.
There is a tick box you can 'untick' but they advise against this.

.... hopefully ... your computer will be protected against nasty worms .... Smile

So..................
Have you backed up all your files..?
and disconected the drive from the computer
and another copy at another location..?
I also copy things to DVD or CD as well.

please note at this moment 23/5/2017 I am still checking how this works to give accurate instructions...

Remember to 'like' RS Computer Services face-book
Below is a copy of Rolands face-book article...
and links...
His website will be sorted soon...

Hi to all, DON'T BE AFRAID OF CRYPTO INFECTIONS STOP THEM GETTING IN!

Please read and act, most will be trying to charge for this as the scare is quite high at present, no need to pay just download and install. once you have run the downloaded file you will be guided through what you need to do.

IT TAKES 2 MINS TO PROTECT YOURSELF, SO DO IT!!

Follow this link -  https://www.foolishit.com/cryptoprevent-malware-prevention/

Once downloaded double click to install and just follow the simple install guide, my advise would be leave the settings alone and just run in moderate protection, this will adapt the registry of your machine and prevent the crypto infections being able to run.

Don't Pay the ransom ever.
